"Look, it’s you!" Tom says, picking up a bear that has glasses attached to its comically large head.
"My head is not that big, Tom!"
They’re at Build-A-Bear to celebrate Grace’s birthday, though the birthday girl herself seems to be in favor of sleeping in her stroller.
"It’s cause you’re really smart! Anyway, since Grace is taking a nap, I say we make bears of each other to give her."
"Fine by me," Shannon says, searching for a bear that looks like Tom. When she finally selects one, they move on to stuffing the bears.
This leads to them having to run around screaming about loving build-a-bears and kiss the hearts to go inside the bears.
They don’t really mind though. All potential embarrassment aside, it’s pretty fun.
When it’s time to pick out outfits, the “Tom” bear ends us wearing some kind of football uniform and the “Shannon” bear is in a lab coat. They each have to admit the other did a pretty good job.
Grace keeps them both in her room for a really long time. Whenever she moves one of them from atop her dresser, she moves the other with it.
Even when she’s still little, the bears seem to belong together.
